"You've reached Hiccup! I'm busy right now, or I'm out, but leave a message and I'll get back to you as soon as I can."

[He's quite happy to be recognized, and he even remember his name too! Humans tend to have a difficult time with that.]
I hope you're well, and I'm sorry that I must call you in these circumstances but I was hoping you'd do me a bit of a favour.
no subject
Oh, don't worry about it, I'm- you know, that's what I gave you my information for. I don't mind at all. [He doesn't mind at all. It's a good thing for him to make friends with the other Mirrorbound.] Of course, what do you need?
no subject
[After all they just went through, the tension in the dreams and what happened once tey all woke up...]
I just. I remembered the first dream I had about this place, the one that almost felt real. Where we met. And I remembered... you had a flaming sword in it?

no subject
[Haha. Anyway.]
I would agree, though. I didn't know it was your own invention, that's all the ore impressive!
[He fusses a bit, unsure on how to word his request. It's not even something that he wants to use, he spent 6000 years without his sword and did just fine. But even though he doesn't like to use it and he'd rather use the flame to give warmth to those who need it he does know how to use it.
And he already had to say goodbye to it again, when the delivery man came. He'd have rather keep it, but since the sword isn't in this place... it won't hurt to have a substitute, will it?]
Would you be willing to make another one? For me, I mean.
no subject
You want- of course I can! It shouldn't take more than a couple days, and then I can teach you how to re-charge the rune that lights it up since you're a witch too.
no subject
[And he'd get to learn a new spell, too! He's been interested about learning more even since he found out he was a witch. Sure, most angels would probably be upset at being called that, but Aziraphale has never been your typical angel and so he's mostly trying to learn whatever can be useful in this place.
Plus he is, if he's honest with himself, also very curious.]
When's a- I mean, I wouldn't want to impose, when would be a good time for you?
no subject
It's no imposition. Really. I'll start the parts tonight. I've been in my forge a lot recently anyway. [So it's not like he's not already going to be there.] I'll give you a call when it's finished? Two, three days, maybe, and then you can come by and I can show you how it works.
no subject
[He wishes Crowley were here, so he could show him the sword. He's the one that was always interested in new technologies and how to use them to torture people while Aziraphale miracled a rotatory phone to work because he refused to change it.]
How much will it be?
no subject
[And sure enough, like three days later, he'll get a message from Hiccup that the sword is ready and he can drop by whenever.]
action;
But he figures they can always talk about it later. And so, he goes get his sword as soon as he's called.]
I won't lie: I'm... probably a tad too excited about this.
no subject
When Aziraphale arrives, he lets him into the workshop with a smile, looking a bit tired and smudged with soot, but not terrible yet.] I'm glad, actually- It's, it's nice to be appreciated. I'm pretty proud of this design. [It's lying on the heavy wooden workbench, looking rather like just a hilt right now, the handle wrapped in smooth leather for comfort.
He plucks it up and hands it over handle-first.] Here, try the weight. It should be pretty light. When you press your thumb into the raised metal bit there on the side, the blade will extend.
no subject
Oh... look at it. It's beautiful, Hiccup. You really do have a talent for this.
no subject
When he presses the button, the slender, sectioned blade slides out to full length, each section fitting into the previous one when withdrawn. Runes are etched into one side of the metal in tidy, blocky script.
He smiles wide, proudly.] I've, uh, I've been apprenticed to the blacksmith back home since I was a kid. It's the only thing I was good at. Here, these runes along the edge are the flame enchantment. You'll have to pour magic into it to charge them every so often, and then it'll light up when you press your thumb here. Give it a try!
no subject
But Hiccup quickly changes the subject, and Aziraphale decides to go with that for now. There will be time for curious questions either- he needs to remember he's one of them now, not someone observing their stories from afar.
And so he concentrates on pouring the magic into the sword. He's pretty new at this, but he's been paying attention in class and that part is pretty simple. And then, with a flick of his thumb, the sword lights up.
And Aziraphale's face is filled with a nostalgic kind of happiness.]
Oh, look at that- quite beautiful, isn't it?
no subject
Really he's way more delighted to talk about his magic and his inventions, and he seems pleased when Aziraphale seems pleased with the flames that dance along the blade.] It's convenient, too. You never have to look for a torch. I know other witches just- you know, make fireballs, but... I've had more control like this. As an enchantment on a physical object. I think I'm just better at those.
Anyway, there's, uh, room on the other side of the blade too, if you ever want to put your own enchantments on it as well.
no subject
[He sounds a little wistful. He's still extremely new at enchantments, he's only just started classes. And he's... honestly lacking in imagination, so it will probably take a while for him to decide on a spell if he ever does. But he appreciates the chance, anyway.]
Is your blade like this, as well? Did you put more than one enchantment on it?
no subject
no subject
Did you have to fight often? Against dragons, perhaps, since you mention them a lot?
no subject
Hiccup laughs, awkwardly, and rubs at the back of his head.] Weeeell, that's a funny story, actually...
[Here is where Toothless pokes his head around through the open door, ear fins standing up curiously, sniffing the air.]
Aziraphale, this is, uh. This is Toothless. My dragon. We, um, used to fight dragons, but not anymore.
no subject
[And then, a little louder, and obviously rather excited at the prospect:] Oh! Oh, that's quite lovely! Hello, Toothless!
[Aziraphale all but rushes towards the black dragon after putting the sword away, stopping himself sort of reaching out to pet him. Reptiles don't usually like that, he knows that from fraternizing with a certain snake for thousands of years.]
You don't fight them anymore, then?
no subject
Hiccup stifles a laugh as Toothless' gaze flicks from one of them to the other, nodding subtly that this guy is cool, man.] Not for the last six years. Berk is a certified dragon-viking utopia. He, uh, he likes being scratched under the chin. Put your hand out first, let him come to you.
[Toothless just lets out a gutteral purr, leaning in a little now, sniffing curiously.]
no subject
So you went from hunting them to an 'utopia'? That's quite a switch. Do you mind if I ask what changed?
no subject
Toothless showed us we were wrong. Most importantly, he changed my father's mind about- about everything. About dragons, about our ancestors' war with them, about me. Everything got better after we took out the queen that had been making them raid us for food to take back to her nest. Lost my leg, but I got a date! [The last part is a joke, accompanied with a wide spread of his hands.]
no subject
Well. Crowley isn't here, but still.]
Animals are wonderful creatures. I'm glad you managed to find the reason they were raiding you for food, it sounds like becoming friends was pretty beneficial for both of you. Does everyone in your village have a dragon now?
