the forge;

Located just past the limits of the Outer City, on a patch of land meticulously kept cleared from the Cwyld, The Forge is a blend of Aefenglom's 'modern' blacksmithing standards and old-world Viking style. A single-story building of rough-hewn planks and logs, planned for proper ventilation, the forge was originally built by Hiccup to work on personal projects in, but it has since been opened up, and is generally 'staffed' by Hiccup Haddock III and Percy de Rolo III.
They both essentially work as independent contractors sharing the facilities and tools, and offer their services crafting weapons, ammunition, armor, shields, and various inventions. Hiccup is also specializing in enchantments and will offer some magical flair on his pieces. Prices may vary, trades may be welcome. The forge is primarily funded by Hiccup's dragonscale money, which pays for tools and materials.
A path from the city gate to the forge is kept cleared of infection with controlled burns, and the path is clearly marked to help people find their way out. Very few natives bother; they cater to Mirrorbound out here, and are set up for metalworking, smithing, leatherworking, woodworking, and general construction. The interior of the building is dominated primarily by the hearth and the bellows, which are enchanted to light and work on their own when activated by a Witch. It can also be lit manually by dragonfire or torch. There are three spacious workbenches, an anvil, a grindstone for sharpening, and a fair amount of space. The wide, garage-style front door can be lifted to increase airflow and let heat escape. At least one bench is usually cluttered with Hiccup's projects, drawings and notes, another clearly belongs to Percy, and the third is open for guest use and kept tidier.
While they take commissions, the forge itself is also open to Mirrorbound use, as long as visitors follow the posted rules and bring their own raw materials. Those who do not heed the sheet of paper tacked to the wall are likely to be escorted out by an irritable Night Fury, or pecked at by a Terrible Terror.
- Don't disturb the dragons.
- Don't tamper with mine or Percy's projects.
- Bring your own materials.
- If you break a tool, fix or replace it.
- Stay out of the house across the property.
- Last person to leave every day needs to extinguish the hearthfire.
- Please only feed the dragons approved treats.

As far as an apprenticeship goes... Lmao this is where things get awkward, I'm so sorry. Hiccup actually had pretty close CR with the previous Keith (they built Wilders' Edge where the forge is together and were roommates for months), so being around a Keith that doesn't remember him would be... awk. He can probably convince Hiccup eventually but it would definitely take some actual threading to get there.

And pffffft, I had no idea, that would be amazingly awkward, poor Hiccup. BUT that said, if you're down, I'd be down to thread something to see where that all goes? No worries if you feel it'd be too weird for Hiccup to deal with though!

I'm down to see where things go! I LIVE FOR AWKWARD. It just definitely isn't an arrangement that he could agree to out of nowhere, though I imagine he can get over it eventually. Lmao he's had like two conversations with the current Shiro and he hasn't remembered Hiccup either time, so "different version of this person" isn't a completely new concept for him in Aefenglom at least haha.
If you want to hit up Hiccup's inbox, feel free! His watch info would probably be relatively public bc of the forge, or he's going on the expedition on the 16th if you'd prefer something in person.

I'm so glad you're down for AWKWARD cuz I expect there'll be a fair amount of it, lol. And omg.. the Shiro situation must've been so awkward since iirc he lost his memories once in game too? Gosh.

Lmao yeah it'll be. IT'LL BE SOMETHING, ALRIGHT.
