Afternoon, Hiccup. I thought it may be in the best interests of Toothless if you knew about a new lake that sprang up in the jungle last month. It has freshwater fish that you needn't pay for ... you seemed to be shelling out quite a bit to feed him when first we met.

I'll send directions in a text, it's doubtful the place is on any official maps yet.

[He laughs a little awkwardly at that.] Yeah, it's not... not really something I ever had to worry about on Berk. Money and how I was going to feed him. We've been going to the river most days, but I guess the fish migrate sometimes? A lake with more fish would be great! We'll definitely check it out.

Uh. How did a lake just 'spring up'?

Oh. Right. [That seems obvious in retrospect, even if he doesn't know any of the details on why or how. If Loki listens carefully he can probably hear the scratch of Hiccup's charcoal stick on rough paper; he's started a map of the Quarantine, and is adding the general location of the lake from the directions with a small x, to fill in when he sees it.]

No problem. You've been thinking about me for most of your life, now and then, believing in me. It's the least I can do.

[ This is probably what being Better feels like. It's refreshingly cathartic, reaching out in ways that would have made Verity or Tony proud. ]

Oh, I started a map. Of the Quarantine. Once I check out the lake, I'm going to add it. Does this magic lake have a name?

[ He doesn't mention there are already maps, pretty decent ones the perimeter guard uses which Tony gave him. Hiccup's version will be more useful if he makes it for himself anyway, he has the eyes of an aerial creature.

[Maybe the Guard has some maps, but they don't have the entirety of the wilderness mapped out, else they wouldn't have a whole team of Surveyors going out and exploring, reporting back their findings. Either way, it's Hiccup's pet project for the moment, something familiar to do to occupy himself in a strange world.]

Can't name it properly until we see it. I'll surprise you.
